Birth of Henriette & Concha
Before Ombriere Coco d’Occitanie, there was Henriette & Concha.
Henriette & Concha was founded in 2013 by two friends, both teachers and specialists in Hispanic and Latin American cultures and languages.
In search of beauty in all its forms, and driven by their desire to share their deep attachment to Spain and Latin America, as well as to foster relationships based on respect and trust with artists and artisans, the idea for this boutique was born.
As for the enigmatic name Henriette & Concha, it is a tribute to their grandmothers.

Creation of Ombrières Coco D’Occitanie
Our story is rooted in an authentic way of life, inspired by the gentle Mediterranean climate and the beauty of the landscapes of southern France. Based in Gruissan, a village nestled between lagoon and sea, we chose to highlight local craftsmanship and traditional know-how to design shade sails that combine functionality, aesthetics, and respect for nature.
Each shade sail is carefully handcrafted by passionate artisans who share our high standards of quality. This artisanal approach guarantees unique pieces while celebrating the spirit of the South.
Convinced that our activity must contribute positively to the environment, we place eco-design at the heart of our approach. Our products are made without plastic, using biodegradable natural coconut fibers selected for their durability and low environmental impact.
It is this combination of local creation, Mediterranean authenticity, and responsible commitment that led to the birth of Coco d’Occitanie Shade Sails, seven years after the creation of Henriette & Concha.
We offer much more than simple sun protection: a sensory experience and a way of life in harmony with nature.
A word about Gruissan, the birthplace of our shade sails
Located between the Mediterranean Sea, lagoons, and vineyards, Gruissan fully embodies the Southern way of life. A former fishing village arranged in a circular layout around the Barberousse Tower, the town has preserved its authenticity while embracing modernity. Its exceptional natural environment—featuring sandy beaches, salt marshes, garrigue landscapes, and lagoons—offers a truly unique living setting.
Gruissan captivates visitors and residents alike with its heritage, vitality, local traditions, and gentle way of life, shaped by sunshine, the sea, and Mediterranean conviviality.
